Worn kitchen linens, wavy glass windows, shutters with hinges, corn flowers and creeks. Canning farm vegetables, clothes lines, bicycles and Sunday night dinners. This is where her stories come from. Rebecca Huber, number six of seven children, was born in Burbank, CA but grew up in the mid-west in a rural neighborhood outside Chicago, IL. There, in a home for nine and a dog, Rebecca was immersed in creativity and the desire to explore the outdoors; fishing in channel lakes, building forts in willow trees and perfecting figure eights during winter ice-skating. Her father an animator and mother an educator, social worker and artist. Her parents introduced Rebecca to Picasso, Monet, Sargent and Chagall among others, during frequent trips to The Art Institute of Chicago. Influenced by the artistic talent in her family, love for small towns, channel lakes and prairies; art naturally became part of Rebecca's life.

Graduating from Illinois State University as an elementary education major with an art focus, Rebecca moved to Richmond, VA. Her career as an elementary teacher has helped Rebecca as an artist. Admiring children for their simple, direct and loving perceptions of the world. Guiding them through new discoveries, finding happiness and beauty in who they are and where they come from. Rebecca is present as an artist, capturing emotion and serenity of scenic views, sharing moments in time. She is a self-taught artist creating realistic impressions of interiors and landscapes and exhibits primarily in the VA area but has an on line clientele in CA, NY, and IL.

Rebecca has taken oil painting classes at Crossroads Art Center in Richmond, VA with Curney Nuffer and palette knife painting with Leslie Saeta, from Ventura, CA. She frequently participates in plein air painting events at Nimrod Hall, Lazare Gallery and Upper Shirley Vineyard. Rebecca's interior subject matter reflects her insight into family gatherings where stories are shared. Her palette knife technique layer texture and color to reveal a moment in time that still begs to be shared and its' beauty admired. Landscapes of beaches, prairies and forests express depth and texture taking the viewer on a journey to a place of tranquility, color by color.
